A Dance of Shadows opens with Sicilian green mandarin, fresh ginger and Isparta rose, capturing a fresh zingy brightness before the fragrance moves into a darker olfactive territory.
Whisky sits at the centre of the heart, warmed by oakwood, burnt caramel, black pepper, and cinnamon. Omani frankincense threads smoke through the composition, and the leather gives the heart a rugged texture.
Arabica coffee emerges in the base emboldened with sandalwood, tobacco, patchouli and Vietnamese oud. Hiba wood, cypriol, Brazilian vetiver, amyris, and oakmoss absolute reinforce the dry, smoky character, while spikenard adds an animalic, chocolatey-root-like depth. Peru balsam, decalepis root, labdanum, Laotian benzoin, vanilla, and gurjun furthers the spicy warmth, whilst woody ambers add rigidity to the drydown.

"They pay me to find what prefers the dark, and tonight the city had plenty to offer: rain varnished the streets, neon stuttered in the puddles, and the air from the club door came up oily with anise, sweat, and last chances. Inside, velvet was scuffed, mirrors were foxed, and trouble wore lipstick that didn’t match its story. A priest’s collar slept on a chair, a badge lay face-down beside it, and the bartender’s bandaged knuckles said the till had opinions.
I was hired for a girl or a ledger, depends on who thinks they own the truth, but here the facts don’t stand still, they trade partners when the hallway light swings and every face learns a new name. So I let the room lead and kept close to the edge, step for step with the shadows, until the music thinned and someone finally paid, in cash, in confession, sometimes both."
