Lovers in the Lemon Grove opens with Amalfi lemon in full clarity, bright, aromatic and vivid, surrounded by Amalfi lemon petitgrain, Calabrian cedrat, Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian tangerine and green mandarin.
Elemi lends a subtle resinous lift before the fragrance moves into its heart, where a privately produced Amalfi lemon blossom absolute, made in small quantities exclusively for Vanitas Parfums by an Italian citrus producer, brings a narcotic intimate expression of this very Amalfi lemon tree. Rose de Mai and Isparta rose envelope around it, with maté, fresh ginger and cabreuva wood adding dryness, warmth and gentle structure.
As the brightness begins to settle, sandalwood, mimosa and woody ambers soften the composition into something warmer and more tactile. Oakmoss, patchouli, labdanum, Laotian benzoin and decalepis root add depth beneath the citrus, allowing the lemon blossom to linger beyond the heart, and not stray into connotations of lemon cleaning products.
This perfume perfectly captures the scent of citrus trees in bloom, with crushed leaves, fresh peel, warm woods and white blossoms filling the air, with the intimacy of two people together beneath them.

"Afternoon led them into a lemon grove, leaves throwing coin-sized shadows across the path. Blossom scent lifted the day’s sharp edges, and a fallen petal clung to a sleeve until one of them brushed it away with a careful thumb. A lemon slipped from a branch and rolled to their feet, they stooped at the same moment, laughed, and wrapped a few windfalls in a scarf, the fabric taking on a bright, green-gold trace.
Words thinned to small, easy ones. Hands found each other without ceremony. By the gate they walked slower, pockets weighty, discovering a sweetness that gentles even the sourest moments."
